Energy Advisor LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Energy Advisor service at whydidmybillspike.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Information you provide. When you use Energy Advisor, you may voluntarily upload utility bill documents (PDFs or images) and send messages through the chat interface. These are used solely to answer your questions.

Automatically collected data. We collect standard web analytics data including browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring URL via Google Analytics 4. We also collect anonymous session identifiers to maintain your conversation history within a session.

Information we do not collect. We do not require you to create an account or provide your name or email address to use the service.

3. Bill Uploads and Document Storage

Documents you upload (utility bills) are stored securely in encrypted AWS S3 storage. They are used only to generate a response to your question. We do not sell, share, or disclose your uploaded documents to third parties. You can request deletion of your uploaded files at any time by contacting us.

4. AI Processing

Your messages and uploaded documents are processed by Anthropic's Claude AI API. Anthropic's privacy policy governs their handling of data. We do not use your conversations to train AI models without explicit consent.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and local storage for session management and analytics. Google Analytics 4 is used for anonymized usage analytics. Google Ads conversion tags may be present if you arrived via a paid search advertisement. You can opt out of Google Analytics by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Data Retention

Chat turn data is retained for up to 12 months to enable service improvement. Uploaded bill documents are retained for up to 90 days, after which they are automatically deleted. Analytics data is subject to Google Analytics' standard retention policies.
